VizX Labs Releases GeneSifter.Net™ Version 2004.1
Unique new features help Affymetrix®, other microarray users Understand the Biology™
Seattle, WA - July 9, 2003 - VizX Labs today announced the release of the Version 2003.3 update to GeneSifter.Net. Available online now, the update was delivered complete and ahead of schedule to GeneSifter.Net users.
"Biological science changes daily," said VizX CEO Tom Ranken. "Operating GeneSifter.Net through the Internet enables us to update biological data, add new statistical methods, and enhance other features instantly. The result is that the latest scientific techniques are automatically available to every user of GeneSifter.Net with each quarterly release."
Version 2003.3 adds important new features to GeneSifter.Net that take advantage of its web-based design by integrating biological information from diverse online sources. For example, GeneSifter's One-Click Gene Summary™ now features links to metabolic pathways diagrams and genetic researchers can now easily find known functions of genes with the new Ontology Overview Report. The release also adds powerful statistical techniques and integrates new biological information. Enhanced functionality assists users in navigating through the system, exporting data, and creating graphics.
Today's announcement continues VizX Labs' unique program of quarterly updates of the GeneSifter.Net system to keep researchers ahead of the curve on the latest developments in statistical analysis, data management, and genomic information. The company's commitment to automatic updates, made possible by GeneSifter.Net's Web-based architecture, frees researchers from time-consuming tasks and enables them to spend more time concentrating on their search for scientific discoveries.
Version 2003.3 Feature Summary
(See http://www.genesifter.net/product-info_releases.php.)
1. Gene Ontologies: The Gene Ontology Web database can be applied to any gene list to produce an Ontology Overview Report summarizing ontology parentage findings.
2. Pathway Diagrams: Enhanced metabolic pathways information and links in the 'One-Click Gene Summary' are now available with links to pertinent pathways diagrams.
3. Westfall and Young Statistics: The Westfall and Young statistical method gives GeneSifter users an additional choice for a permutation-based, >2-sample test with correction for multiple testing.
4. Exporting to Excel: All of the 'One-Click Gene Summary' information associated with each gene list, including ontology and pathway information, can be exported into Microsoft Excel.
5. Enhanced Gene Lists: More flexible and persistent gene lists with smoother 'combined operations' are possible between pairwise and project analysis features.
6. Easier Navigation: Project results navigation features among statistical, gene, and expression patterns are easier to use.
7. Better Graphics: Display, file output, and printing enhancements make operations more convenient with charts and graphics.
8. Superior Project Features: More flexible project creation, display, and export options have been added including multiple condition labeling features and additional summary data.
